Welcome to my Website

I am delighted that you are able to join me on this journey.  Please take a few minutes to scroll through the information on this site and learn how your support can use my voice to give Ward 5 residents a seat at the council table. Please vote Karen Wolfe on October 26, 2026.

Hello Ward 5 residents.

We are so lucky to be living here.

My lived experience in this community means I love and appreciate its charm and rural vibe. It is part of my DNA. I consider it to be the jewel in Georgina's crown and easily one of the hidden jewels in York Region.  We are surrounded by significant natural features--three York Region Forestry tracts, the Pefferlaw River and of course, the longest Lake Simcoe shoreline in Georgina. These are features that need to be treasured and protected against the type of  urbanization that could threaten them and our way of life.

Community Activist

I have spent most of my adult life lobbying for my community although, as a teenager, I remember finishing a 25-mile walk-a-thon  to raise money for a skating rink. Then in 2008, I starting working with the Pefferlaw Ice Pad Committee to finally bring an outdoor skating rink to Pefferlaw; I was a founder of the Pefferlaw Association of Ratepayers (PAR) in 1978 when we lobbied to have a mosquito abatement program delivered here and more recently, I have led the charge with PAR to oppose a proposed aerodrome on Old Homestead Road; I worked with the Save the Pefferlaw Dam group to lobby for the funding to repair the dam; I advocated to save the Pefferlaw Church when it was slated for demolition; I lobbied against the movement to relocate the Robert Johnston cemetery; worked through our Federal MP to have the wigwags at the train crossing on Old Homestead repaired; and recently, I have been fighting to convince the provincial government to put a Northlander train stop in Pefferlaw.

Communicator

Educated as a journalist, I began my professional life publishing industry magazines in Toronto and later became the Director of Communications for a national trade association. In 2005, I decided to stop commuting and began publishing the Pefferlaw Post. It became so popular that it morphed into the Georgina Post and was distributed Georgina-wide. My rational for the newspaper was to shine a light on the efforts of our hard working volunteers and share information on community events, news stories and profiles. In 2007, I received a Georgina Business Excellence Award for the success of the Pefferlaw Post. And in 2008, I was a proud recipient of a Media Recognition Award sponsored by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for publishing Lake Simcoe Fishing and Recreation News.

I was a professor at Durham College where I taught the Journalism program and for six years, I was a host and co-host for two Rogers TV Georgina television programs--That's My Story and Politically Speaking respectively.

Communicating is what I do best.

Volunteer

I have been very fortunate and honoured to be recognized for various volunteer contributions. In 2012, I was delighted to receive the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal and then in 2024, our then MP Scot Davidson presented me with the King Charles III Coronation Medal. In 2021, I received a Heritage Recognition Award from the Town of Georgina and as a co-host of Politically Speaking and That's My Story, I am a proud recipient of a Rogers TV 5-year Volunteer Service Award. I am a proud member and past president of the Georgina Historical Society; I was a long time member and Advocacy Chair for PAR; I was the Community Liaison for Morning Glory Public School Advisory Council and; I have fond memories of the work and support the Pefferlaw Firefighters' Ladies Auxiliary delivered to our community.
